Seventeen years ago,  I was so excited on what my baby’s first halloween costume would be.  A month before Halloween I went to different stores  trying to find a real cute  costume.  I found a very cute Bumble Bee Costume.  It has this Leotard with attached tutu, wings and headpiece.  I also bought matching Bee Child Tights and a Honey Pot Purse to make it even cuter. She looked so cute with the outfit!  We went to a children’s halloween party and all the kids wore costumes.  Like Little Pumpkin , Little Devil, Cookie Monster, Snow White, Mickey Mouse and a lot more.  We had so much fun with games, singing and dancing and of course trick-or-treating!

Disney Costumes

Ok… lets be honest. There’s nothing cuter than little kids that dress up as their favorite Disney characters for Halloween. It’s adorable the way the girls get all excited and cant wait to dress up as Ariel from The Little Mermaid, Aurora from Sleeping Beauty, Belle from Beauty and the Beast, and Cinderella. The boys get all brave-looking with their boys Disney costumes. They love dressing up as Mickey Mouse or Peter Pan which would look very cute with Captain Hook too. Boys also love dressing up as Woody and Buzz Lightyear from Disney’s Toy Story. The only hard part is when they realize that they can only be one thing and they need to decide which Disney character they want to be this year.

Everyone knows that past the age of 12, Halloween isn’t about trick-or-treating and spending quality time with your parents as they drive you to the rich neighborhoods for HUGE candy bars anymore. It’s ALL about the infamous Halloween party. This is the time when everyone gets a chance to take on a persona that they have never been before. We become actors within our own Mise-en-scene world and explore how it feels to be Marilyn Monroe, a Sexy Playboy Bunny or even a Sexy Gingerly Giraffe! The ideas are endless! Showing up to a huge rager always promises some crazy orange BADLY spiked punch, booming Bass, mood-enhancing fog machines and there is always that one guy behind a mask that could be a Venetian Casanova. The point is, we all take a chance that night and leave our judgement and insecurities at home. It is our night to explore the world behind someone else’s eyes behind the mask and see, for our selves good or bad, the hero Batman Mask or the villian Evil Joker Mask.

My friend Kelly is a working artist in Downtown LA and he was talking to me this weekend about throwing a Halloween Party to not only show off his artwork but he wanted to also have some sort of creative twist to the party. Since alot of his art has to do with Egyptian art and culture, I suggested he throw an Egyptian themed party. Since he didnt want 50 Cleopatras and Pharoahs dancing around, he decided to also make it a Roman/Greek party as well so that people could have more selections of costumes to wear for the party. Since he is throwing the party, he definetly picked out the best Pharoah Costume he could find, and he said he would add his own finishing touches like make up and jewelry to make it his own, using his own style. My friend Jessica, who is good friends with kelly, wanted to be an egyptian as well so she decided to find the best Cleopatra Costume and a Snake Arm Band just to add something special. My friend Sal wanted to be Egyptian as well, but more of a sexy revealing costume, so he found a fabulous Nile God Costume that is really authentic looking and sexy for a man at the same time. Since he wanted an accessory to go with his Costume he got the Egyptian Dagger that he could carry around and play with all night, just to add a little fun to his costume. Since our friend Ty was running out of ideas, he decided to get the Deluxe Marc Antony costume and match up with Jessica all night. For accessories he just got the 300 Shield and 300 Spear that are from the 300 Movie, but they go really well with his costume anyway. My friend Lucy wanted to be an Egyptian princess as well so got more of a plain, but very beautiful Egyptian Queen Costume and she also bought a gorgeous Egyptian Princess Wig to spice up her costume a bit. My other friend Danny loves horror movies, so of course he decided to get the Mummy Man Costume as well as the Egyptian Mummy Mask to go with the theme. Since me and my boyfriend were running out of options, we decided to go the Greek way and be Gods. I found a beautiful Greek Goddess Costume and a gorgeous Greek Goddess Wig to match. I also got some Gold Goddess Sandals to go with my costume. My boyfriend just wanted to be something simple so he decided to go with the Zeus Costume to match me. He also ended up getting the Roman Sandals and the Zeus Wig and Beard Set to make his costume that much better. I am really glad we all got our costumes early this year so every thing is perfect. I am also really excited about this party, I can’t wait to see how the other guests dress up!
