Costume kingdom is having one of the biggest sales of the year right now and everyone should be taking advantage of it! Honestly, some of the costumes that were $100 are now like $65. You can just browse through the site and find some very interesting items that you could use year round. For example, you may have a young child who is going to have a birthday party soon or later in the year and they will absolutely want a costume for it. Why not purchase the costume now and save loads of money? If you have a daughter who wants the perfect costume for her party, you may consider one of the Disney princess costumes like the Belle Deluxe Child, the Cinderella Deluxe Child, the Ariel Deluxe Child or the lovely Aurora Child. Not all little girls are into the princess dynamic so she also might want something like the Scar-Let Pirate Deluxe, the Very Bat Girl Child or possibly the Deluxe Wonder Woman Child. Whatever she may want to wear, we definitely have!Now if you have a son, he will probably want some of the most popular action-hero characters out now. I was scrolling through some of the costumes on our site and I began to realize that the key influential factor of the most popular Halloween costumes is movies. I am sure we have all realized this at some point but it just occurred to me how manipulating film exposure really is to our society. Let’s take Spiderman for example. Before the film version of the Spiderman comic came out, the actual costumes of Spiderman were pretty scarce. This past Halloween, since the movie has been released for 5 years, we sell approximately 30 different types of Spiderman costumes; the Spiderman Adult Costume, Deluxe Spiderman Child, and the Spiderman Deluxe Muscle Teen/Adult are just some of them. As Spiderman 3 came out, we became even more equipped with the Black Suited Spiderman Deluxe Teen/Adult, Black-Suited Spiderman Child, and the Venom Muscle Teen/Adult. It is very interesting to think why we want to take on the persona of these characters. Is it that we want to see what it’s like to be behind the Spiderman mask or do we just want to represent the movie that put us on the edge of our seats?

Another very, very influential blockbuster this year was the Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy. If I think back to all the Halloween parades and trick-or-treating I used to be involved with when I was a child, I do remember a good amount of pirate costumes. But when this movie came out in 2003, thousands of people feel in love with the specific unique characters (especially the dashing Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow). To me, it completely makes sense why people want to wear these costumes that our favorite movies present. We may feel like we are actually that character from the film and experience what it would be like to play that role. We also may just want to look as devenir or cunning as the film itself made that character appear to us. The reasoning behind people dressing as their favorite movie roles is not a specific one, but it definitely shows us how subconsciously we empathize and personally connect with these characters. An extraordinarily well job done by the film crew!

I realized that I didn’t finish saying what my favorite pictures in the contest were yet. I still need to go over the Kids, Scary or Sexy categories! Out of all the categories, I have to say the entries within the Kids section were the most creative. You could absolutely tell that most of their costumes had been hand-made which must took alot of time and I was very impressed! Though all the children were incredibly cute and picture-perfect in this category, there were a couple that automatically caught my eye. First was the How cute am I? picture of a little charming girl dressed up as a pink poodle. I’m not sure if the costume was home-made or not, but it fits her quite well. It looks like the girl version of the Lil’ Pup Dalmation Infant costume that is equally picture perfect. The main reason I think this picture stands out is that the costume compliments the girl and vise versa. Plus her painted nose completes it all!

I am really not a big fan of Horror films or anything remotely scary, but I really admire the costumes that alot of the contestants posted under the Scary category. I was scrollling through the pictures one day, and one costume scared the Ba-Jesus out of me! It was the Scary Gary costume, or should I say make-up, that completely gave me shivers. It looks like a mix between the Killer Clown Mask and the Evil Clown Mask. Because of this guys grave attention to detail with the eye contacts, face make-up, sharp realistic teeth and green wig, he really knocked the ball out of the park.!

Lastly, the catagorey that is definitely that hardest for me to judge is the Sexy section. I think there were alot of beautiful men and women dressed up in wonderful creative costumes that deserve acknowledgment, but the one photo that I thought was the sexiext was the FOOTBALL REF. It looks like the Sexy Referee Halter w/ Skirt and/or the Playboy Racy Referee. I favor this photo for several reasons; (1) she has a natural beauty to her, (2) she is wearing a costume that she put together personally that defines her style and (3) she exudes an obvious confidence which I believe is the key to being classified as sexy.

I really hope you guys take your time to look over all the costumes because they really are magnificent. Again, none of my opinions actually reflect who is going to win the costume contest, I just really wanted to pin-point my favorites and give them their well deserved credit.

So I’ve been frequently browsing the photo entries on the Costume Kingdom Gallery and I have seen some really great costumes that I think deserve some recognition. Within the Classic costume category, I saw a picture of a woman in a Deluxe Classic Marilyn Monroe costume painted completely bright pink with a man dressed exactly like Andy Warhol. It was a perfect depiction of the famous painting of Marilyn  Monroe that Andy Warhol created in 1967. Check out the creative Marilyn Monroe/Andy Warhol picture from the Classic section.

 Within the Funny section, I thought the portrayl of Britney Spears took the cake. It is a man in a Blonde Sorceress Witch Wig who has on the exact outfit she wore during the VMAs performance, two duct taped babies and a big bag of cheetos. Look at this Britney photo, I think it is hilarious!

Lastly, if you look in the Pet section, you will see the CUTEST picture of a kitten in a costume ever! It is a Scottish Fold kitten looking precious in a miniature Faire Princess costume dress and what looks like a Barbie Princess Tiara. With the adorable name of Bridgett she will honestly steal your heart in her Bridget the Princess photo.

These picture selections are only based on my personal choice of who I think deserves the win. The actual winners will be picked through the democratic voting of visiters to the site, which I truly believe is very fair. Good luck contestants!

When I was younger, I always got so excited after Halloween because that meant Thanksgiving and Christmas were on their way. My mother used to have decorating assignments for me to do for the house; spray the ornaments with glitter, sew the stockings, place the lights on the roof, etc. It was just always so much fun for me to do all these activities because I got to do them with my family, especially my mom. But as time went by, our traditional decorating of the house began to deteriorate. My mom started working, I began taking A.P. classes and also I got a job. First, the lights ceased to be put up, then the ornaments started to fall apart and the stockings seemed to be too much of a clutter in front of the fireplace. Even today our work ethic for our own house seems to have disappeared when it comes to the holiday spirit.  I think it is time for my mother and I to get back on track this Thanksgiving and Christmas season and go out of our way to make it a special one. Maybe someone can dress up in a Turkey Adult Costume this thanksgiving to set the mood. Possibly, we can get an Elf Adult costume and prance around exclaiming it’s Christmas to everyone. Even more possible, but not likely, either one of us can join a religious play in Mary Adult costume in the theme of Christmas just for kicks. Are these ideas ridiculous and absurd? Yes, but there’s nothing wrong with coming up with fun ideas of what you can do with your family this holiday season!

The more people get into the swing of Halloween, the better they want their costumes to be. This year there was alot of demand for people wanting the higher quality costumes. Many of them wanted the costume manufacturer In Character, because they already have a history of having the best quality costumes. One of my favorites for men was the Carribean Pirate Adult Costume and the Deluxe Vampire Adult Costume. I liked them both so much, not just because the quality of the material they were made from, but that they came with so many accessories and attachments. I like how this year they also had sort of funny costumes that were also higher quality like the Deluxe Big Bad Wolf Adult Costume. I’ve seen other ones that looked similar, but up close you could really tell which one had better quality material. A very popular costume with the ladies this year was the Deluxe Fallen Angel Adult Costume. I think this was popular because it was very different than a standard angel costume and the wings that came with it were really awesome an not flimsy material. I like the fact that these high quality costume manufacturers are also making their costumes for people in bigger sizes. The Deluxe Queen of Hearts Adult Plus Size Costume sold out so quickly I hardly remembered that we even had it. I think the next step for these companies is to make their costumes for babies or pets for people who want to match up with their little ones. I’ve seen more companies making pet costumes to match with sexy costumes and that is just genius, these other companies need to catch on!

Costume companies are getting so creative with all of the different kinds of clown masks and accessories you can buy. I think it’s funny how they are coming up with alot more Scary Clown Costumes because they know some people have a huge fear of clowns. I saw this one really cool Adult Clown Costume with Glowing Eyes that looked really scary. I’ve also seen alot of crazy Clown Masks coming in like the Army Camo Clown Mask or the Black Twisted Clown Mask. They have other ones that came in that were more like The Killer Clowns from Outer Space type of mask. One’s like that look alot similar to something that would be in a horror movie. Another one that was pretty spooky that I liked was the Fearsome Face Clown Mask that had a rainbow afro attached to it, scary and funny at the same time! Ones like the Evil Clown Mask look like a skeleton crossed with a clown, really erie! I can’t wait to add my own Clown Make Up  Kit to make the masks even scarier and more realistic.

  Well halloween is over and the holidays are about to go into over time.  I thought it would be fun for christmas to dress up this year for a fun christmas party.  My husband always plays santa, and  I want a part of it this year.  I saw a cute elf costume it was a Deluxe Jovi Girl Elf Adult and it  Includes a hat, velvet dress, belt and shoe covers. This costume comes in one size only. Then I thought my friend could be the Buddy Elf Adult.  Includes a jacket, hat,tights and belt. Comes in Standard and XL sizes for Male Adults.  But I really need some of those EZ Alien Ear Tips to make the costume complete.  Yeah thats it, I can’t wait for the party.  This will be the best 1 yet!

It’s almost Thanksgiving and my friend is having a dress-up Thanksgiving party. Since it is her party she is going to dress up as The Turkey.Her parents are dressing up as Pilgrim man and Pilgrim woman. Her bother and sister are going to a complete the picture by being a pilgim boy and pilgrim girl.  I heard that the guests are going to dress up as Native American Men and Native American  Women. They will really enjoy giving thanks while they go back in time! 

The first time I saw Tim Burton’s “The Nightmare before Christmas” 14 years ago, I was so amazed! In the 90’s everyone was expecting fantasy films to be done in a cartoon style or represented by real actors. Tim Burton took the film world to another level with using stop animation to bring his fantastical spooky world to life through Claymation.

The story is about a bored skeleton, Jack Skellington, who rules a magical themed land called Halloweentown. He stumbles upon a magic portal that gains him access to Christmastown, which for once, excites him. Being the ruler that he is, he decides to take over Santa’s job and convert the Halloweentownians into Christmas lovers. His shy love interest Sally knows this idea is trouble from the start and attempts to save him before things get out-of-hand. Through various musical sequences the characters display their dreams, fears and down right hilarious opinons of the world around them.

They have re-released this film in theatres but added the wonderful feature of making it in 3D. I have not had the chance to see it yet but I heard it was amazing. Another thing that’s great is you could get items like the Nightmare Before Christmas Door Wreath and the Nightmare Before Christmas Door Mat and use them for Halloween AND Christmas. The versitality of these objects is great for lazy people like me!
